About Switzer’s Auction

A family business with a strong history.

Switzer’s Auction was founded in 1978 as a family business built on honesty, hard work, and a genuine appreciation for the people and stories behind every collection.

What began as a local auction company has grown into one of Canada’s trusted specialty auction services for firearms, ammunition, militaria, hunting, sport shooting, and collector-related items. As the business has grown, our foundation has remained the same: strong relationships, knowledgeable service, and respect for both buyers and consignors.

For more than four decades, Switzer’s Auction has worked with collectors, hunters, sport shooters, estates, families, museums, dealers, and firearm owners across Canada. That experience has helped us build the knowledge and systems required to properly manage firearms, ammunition, militaria, estates, and collections.

Every consignment has a story. Whether it comes from a lifelong collection, a family estate, a hunting cabinet, or a historical collection, our goal is to present it with care, professionalism, and respect.

Experience and expertise buyers and sellers can trust.

Firearms and militaria require more than a general auction approach. They require proper handling, accurate descriptions, regulatory awareness, and an understanding of the collector market.

That specialized focus has helped Switzer’s Auction earn the trust of buyers and sellers across Canada, while also connecting consignments with interested bidders around the world.

For consignors, it means their items are presented professionally to a broad audience of collectors, hunters, sport shooters, dealers, and enthusiasts. For bidders, it means they can participate with confidence through an established Canadian auction company that understands the products it sells and supports buyers across Canada and internationally.

From intake and photography to cataloguing, advertising, buyer support, payment, transfers, pickup, and shipping, our team works behind the scenes to make the auction process clear and straightforward.

Community has always been part of who we are.

Giving back has been an important part of Switzer’s Auction and our family values for many years.

Through our Community Raffles, Switzer’s Auction supplies the prize, and 100% of the proceeds are donated to community-focused causes. Thanks to the generosity of our bidders and supporters, these raffles have helped raise funds for local youth projects, community programs, outdoor education, conservation initiatives, relief work, and outreach beyond our own backyard.

Over the decades, our annual community raffles have raised meaningful support for causes close to our hearts, including $20,000 in 2025 alone.

Cuba Summer Youth Camp

Past raffle proceeds have supported organizations and projects such as the North Hastings Community Fish Hatchery, Switchyard Youth Drop-In Centre, Bancroft Fish and Game Club youth programs, Local Foodbanks, Hastings Holiday Hamper Program, Breakfast Club of Canada, Canadian Red Cross relief efforts, and youth camps and missionary support in Cuba.

For us, community involvement is not separate from the business. It is part of the same family foundation that has guided Switzer’s Auction.
